Evening & Weekend MBA Finances
Evening & Weekend MBA Costs for 2008-09
Fees are assessed by UC Berkeley on a per-unit basis ($2,145 per unit for the 2008-09 academic year). The cost of books and course materials is included in the cost of fees; the materials are delivered to students by the EWMBA Program Office.
The following budgets are for the nine-month academic year 2008-09. The student expense figures have been determined by the university primarily for financial aid purposes. If you apply for financial aid, these official budget costs will be used to determine aid eligibility. Please note that EWMBA fees are subject to change and you should expect them to rise each year of the MBA program. This information is current as of July 2, 2008.

Additional Fees: In addition to the per unit fee, UC Berkeley has two additional fees that cannot be included in the per-unit fee assessment:
-
Class Pass Fee: The Class Pass, or transit fee, of $57 per semester (on your bills it will be called the CLPASS fee), was voted on by the UC Berkeley student body. All students must pay this fee separately, and it cannot be waived.
- Student Health Insurance: The graduate student health insurance fee is $849 per semester (on your bills it will be called the HLTHINS fee). This fee can be waived by submitting the health insurance waiver form online. The deadline for submission of the waiver is July 15th for continuing students and August 31st for entering students. The waiver must be completed each year.
-
The mandatory Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) may be waived upon submission of proof of a comparable health insurance policy. Waiver forms are available on the University Health Services (UHS) web page in PDF format. Waiver requests must be submitted by July 15th for continuing students (by August 31st for entering students).
-
Please note that student health insurance does not include spouse or dependents; that coverage must be purchased separately. Refer to the SHIP website for details.
-
Room and board costs are on the conservative side and assume careful budgeting as well as sharing living quarters with at least one other person. Please be aware that your expenses may be higher depending on your personal lifestyle.
-
This budget does not include items such as consumer (credit card) debt or automobile expenses. We recommend that you reduce these obligations before you enter school, as they cannot be considered in your financial aid budget under federal regulations.
