Fellowships 2003


The Clausen Center commends the following Haas Students for their commitment to international business and policy as shown in their past, present, and future endeavors.


Hui Lisa Cui- EMBA '05 was the Director of the China Program for AIESEC International, where she established a chapter in Mainland China and facilitated their entrance into AIESEC International in 2000. She will use the fellowship for the International Business Seminar this summer.


Vikas Desai- MBA '04 plans to use his electrical engineering background to improve accessibility of emerging technologies in the industry sector in India. He will use the fellowship to travel to southern India to work with a disabled children's charity on behalf of the South Asia Club.


Julie Earne- MBA/MPH '04 has worked in Zambia, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Malawi as a Finance Specialist for the Foundation for International Commuity Assistance. This summer she will work to improve access and market penetration of various products for Population Services International in India.


Rachel Fleet - MBA'04 worked as Program Dirctor of the Development Fund, a non-profit community development finance consulting firm based in San Francisco. With the fellowship, she will attend the 2003 "Inter-American Forum on Microenterprise" in Guatemala City.


Amit Kumar Sinha '04 has been working with several India based NGOs to indetify a potential small business in the carpet industry that would like to access the global market through online channels such as eBay. He is working with Rugmark, a global nonprofit organization working to end child labor and offer educational opportunities for children in India, Nepal and Pakistan. He plans to use the award for initial setup costs for the artisan.


Brian L. Wei BS/BA '04 has assisted in various research projects at UC Berkeley, including OBIR and IBER here at Haas. He used his fellowship to conduct research in central Mexico on sustainable development with the Instituto de Permacultura de Mexico and the Amanalco Ecology Centre.
