From the Director

Students pursuing a PhD at Haas can choose among eight areas of academic specialization, providing for a curriculum of unusual richness and breadth.

We enroll only 14 to 19 new students in the program each year to allow students to work closely with Haas faculty. Our students’ diverse academic and cultural backgrounds, their high intellectual caliber, and the program’s small size combine to create a situation in which students and professors work together and learn from one another in an atmosphere of close cooperation and intellectual excitement.

We’re proud of our record for routinely placing our graduates as faculty members of such top-notch academic institutions as Carnegie Mellon, Columbia, Harvard, the London Business School, MIT, Stanford, the University of Chicago, the Wharton School, and Yale.

The PhD program offers various forms of financial support, including fellowships and grants. Although many of our students enter the program with an MBA or master’s degree, others come directly from an undergraduate program. Completion of a master’s degree is not a requirement for application.

If you are interested in training tomorrow’s business leaders, pursuing your own research interests, and making an impact on global business and education, consider applying to the PhD program at the Haas School.
