The BASE Summer Program

Application & Fees

Applications are reviewed for admission and decisions are released on a rolling basis. Due to space limitations, early applications are encouraged. We will evaluate your application on the basis of the overall strength of your academic record, extracurricular experiences, and career goals.

The ideal participant in the BASE Program is a student who will have recently completed his or her sophomore, junior or senior year, or has graduated within the last two years from an undergraduate institution. We also encourage current freshmen who are completing their first year of university with strong academic performance to apply.

If English is not the official language spoken in your country and your native language in not English, you must submit official evidence of English language proficiency (TOEFL or the IELTS examination score).

Optional Housing

BASE students have the option of residing in a campus dormitory within easy walking distance of the Haas School. Each year, about 20-25 BASE students stay together in the Foothill dorm located only minutes from the Haas School. The housing fee includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner on most days. Please click here (.pdf) for a detailed schedule of meals included with the housing fee. Please make a note of included meals since they expire if left unused (don't let them go to waste). If you request housing, the BASE office will arrange for your housing and will take care of billing, rooming lists, etc. with our housing partners. Therefore if you sign-up for a double room, another student in the BASE program will be your roommate (same gender).

The housing fee is in addition to the program fee:

2017 price for Double Occupancy is $3,180 per person
2017 price for Single Occupancy is $4,220 per person
