Woodland Hills, CA- B-BAY c/o 2013
I am a B-BAY alumni studying business
administration at the Haas School of Business. My experience at B-BAY
solidified my desire to both study business & attend UC Berkeley. My
favorite experiences at B-BAY were attending the lectures by actual
Haas professors & touring the Google Campus. I have had internships
in the real estate investment, finance, and insurance industries.
After I graduate, I will be working full time at a management consulting
firm specializing in the healthcare industry. I never imagined how great
of an impact my time at B-BAY would have on my collegiate &
Modesto, CA- B-BAY c/o 2014
I am currently a Junior Marketing Major
at Leavey School of Business, Santa Clara University. My favorite B-BAY
memory, is meeting students & experiencing everyone's different ways of
learning & thinking in a college setting. B-BAY allowed me to be creative
& innovative in a collaborative environment. I also participate as social
media chair/co-captain of the SCU Dance Team, Alpha Delta Pi sorority,
and a Business Dean's Office employee. I recently completed a rotational
intern program at Collins Electrical Company with a marketing emphasis.
Fun Fact: I danced with Coldplay, Beyonce, and Bruno Mars in the Super
Bowl 50 Halftime Show.
Jamaica- B-BAY c/o 2016
My two weeks in the program
was not only academically enriching, but socially & cognitively
energizing. It was a joy vicariously experiencing other cultures
through stories of classmates, sharing my proud heritage, all while
learning from some of the best minds in the world. The most profound
impact B-BAY had is informing my path to tertiary studies. I am a Berkeley
City College student pursuing a two-year associate's degree in Communication
for transfer to a four-year university to pursue my dream of becoming a
Television Producer. The lessons, such as how to operate in the "growth zone"
of one's life, will always stick with me.
Honolulu, Hawaii- B-BAY c/o 2010 & 2011
I am a 3rd year pre-med student majoring
in Anthropology & minoring in Global Health at UCLA. I am a research volunteer
with the Cardiac Arrhythmia Center at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.
My favorite B-BAY memory is building networks & learning how to be an entrepreneur.
Participating in B-BAY increased my development of teamwork, perseverance,
determination, & integrity. It taught me the professional & leadership skills
necessary to be successful & make an impact through risk-taking. The transition
into college was not an easy one since I was medically disqualified from my first
choice, the US Naval Academy. It gave me appreciation for who I am to accept
this adversity, live in a positive way and manage my goal to become a cardiologist.
East Oakland, CA- B-BAY c/o 2016
I took part in B-BAY 2016, in which my
eam 'ImmersED' took 1st place in the Showcase. I learned Business Development
by creating a business plan & pitching to investors. Now, I am a Berkeley City
College student in Computer Science (CS) with the goal of transferring to UC
Berkeley as a CS major. My passion lies in bridging the digital & CS education
divide among underserved youth. I volunteer as a teacher assistant for Mission
Bit, teaching students to code. I also enjoy attending coding meetups, hackathons,
'Diversity & Inclusion in Tech' conferences. You can learn more on my
website: www.EngineerAbel.com. Fun fact: I was invited to the White House
Summit to discuss Computer Science in the American Next Generation High Schools.
