Haas is governed by Four Defining Principles, which are in alignment with the mission of the Center:
- Question the Status Quo: We champion bold ideas, take intelligent risks and accept sensible failures, speaking our minds even when it challenges convention.
- Beyond Yourself: We lead ethically and responsibly, take the longer view in our decisions and actions, and often put larger interests above our own.
- Confidence Without Attitude: We make decisions based on evidence and analysis, giving us the confidence to act without arrogance and lead through trust and collaboration.
- Students Always: We are a community designed for curiosity and lifelong pursuit of personal and intellectual growth.
Our students have been on the front lines of leading on gender equality. They have researched, developed, and implemented several strategies in admissions, the classroom, and the Haas culture towards improving gender and racial equity. Over the past three years, the share of female students in our full-time MBA program has risen from under 25% to 38%, and now 42% in the first and second year classes respectively. Our evening and weekend MBA program has also improved its gender equity to 30% women. We are working now to increase the number of women in our executive MBA program. Over 25% of our male MBAs are members of the Women in Leadership Club, and have developed a formal "Manbassadors"
program and strategy.
