Available at over 3,000 retail locations around the country it lets anyone easily grow their own gourmet mushrooms at home in just 10 days. Villa Ragazzi produces "perhaps the best Sangiovese made in California" according to iconic British author Hugh Johnson in his 2013 Pocket Guide to Wine. This small Napa Valley winery is owned by alumna Michaela Rodeno, MBA 80, and her attorney husband Gregory. In 1985, they were the first to plant Sangiovese in Napa Valley. The low vigor, low yielding Rodeno clone makes Sangiovese with medium to full body, good intensity, and a lovely true red color; the acidity that makes Sangiovese a wonderful match with many dishes also assures excellent cellaring potential. Villa Ragazzi Faraona, a super-Tuscan blend of 75% Sangiovese and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon) and Cabernet Sauvignon (100%), plus a dry Rosato di Sangiovese (100%) complete the offer. Total production ranges between 100-200 cases annually. Visitors are welcome by appointment. The name? "Ragazzi" refers to the Rodeno children, now grown.
Special offer for Haas alums: 10% discount on Villa Ragazzi wine purchases thru 12/31/14. Please contact Michaela directly to claim this offer at email@example.com.
