Haas Professors Teece, Garleanu, Morse Honored for Excellence in Research and Scholarly Service
Prof. David Teece is the recipient of the New Zealand Order of Merit. Associate Prof. Nicolae Garleanu is the winner of the Smith Breeden Prize from the Journal of Finance. Visiting Assistant Prof. Adair Morse has received the Journal of Finance's Brattle Prize.

 

Internationally Recognized Consultant Ron Ashkenas Named Haas Executive-in-Residence
Ron Ashkenas, a senior partner at Schaffer Consulting who specializes in "injecting simplicity into a complex world," has been appointed a Haas School executive-in-residence. In his role, Ashkenas will focus his attention on the school's online learning initiatives and Haas@Work course.

 

Expert Brand Builder Gary Shansby to Speak Feb. 14
Master brand builder Gary Shansby, who helped establish such names as Famous Amos cookies, La Victoria Mexican Foods, and Voss Water, will speak on Thursday, Feb. 14 at 12:30 p.m. in the Executive Learning Classroom (S480).

Two Undergrad Alumni Named Most-admired CEOs by San Francisco Business Times
Two Haas undergraduate alumni -- Joy Chen, BS 87, of Yes To, and Andy Kurtzig, BS 94, of Pearl.com -- were among the 15 winners of the San Francisco Business Times 2012 Most-admired CEOs Award.

Financial Engineering Student Alfred Yuan Wins Morgan Stanley Competition
Alfred Yuan, MFE 13, won the $5,000 Morgan Stanley Prize for Excellence in Financial Markets for a paper focused on designing and implementing an algorithm to accelerate the computations of complex financial systems.
