Departmental Overview

Reporting to the Executive Director of the Evening & Weekend MBA Program (EWMBA), the Director of Academic Affairs delivers programming and services to 750 MBA students, as well as to faculty, staff and alumni of the EWMBA.  This student services professional’s primary focus is to enhance the student experience by directing a wide variety of services to EWMBA students from matriculation through graduation.  In addition, the Director of Academic Affairs, a key member of the program staff, works to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction among the EWMBA Program’s various constituencies.

The Director of Academic Affairs focuses on the academic experience including curriculum planning, academic advising, and providing services to faculty.  In addition, s/he provides general student services support as well as other duties as directed by Executive Director.

Responsibilities

•  Work with Executive Director in all aspects of the curriculum including advising regarding academic policies, programs and courses
•  Facilitate new course approval through interaction with various University and School departments
•  Advise students regarding curriculum, course scheduling, degree requirements and University, School and program policies; counsel students with specific concerns or needs
•  Develop and deliver programs and workshops in support of student and academic needs
•  Work closely with EWMBA Association (student government), especially the Academic Committee
•  Plan, manage and administer the course selection and registration process; support students as needed during the registration process
•  Work with Executive Director and EW Program staff in supporting faculty in all aspects of curriculum delivery including the recruiting, hiring and on-boarding of instructors
•  Work with faculty, the Dean’s Office and other staff in the scheduling of courses and instructors as well as the planning of the EWMBA academic calendar
•  Participate in cross School and University program and committees as appropriate
•  Support marketing efforts including delivery of Admissions materials and presentations
•  Assist Executive Director and EW Program staff with long-range planning; represents EW Program as requested in Executive Director’s absence
•  Work closely with numerous departments and units within the School, University and larger community

Required Qualifications

•  An MBA and/or in-depth knowledge of management education principles and disciplines
•  Excellent interpersonal skills required for working with various constituencies
•  Advanced knowledge of advising and counseling techniques
•  Understanding for and success in innovating business processes
•  Excellent project management skills
•  Excellent judgment and ability to abide by University and Federal privacy standards
•  Experience working in fast-paced environment with sophisticated and demanding clients
•  Strong customer service orientation
•  Excellent team and leadership skills
•  Must be self-motivated and able to work independently
•  Outstanding organizational, written and oral communications skills
•  Must have strong attention to detail
•  Must be able to work evenings and weekends with occasional travel (1-2 Saturdays per month during academic year) to the South Bay
•  Demonstrated ability with a variety of software programs, including database management and Microsoft office.

•  Prior experience working within a business school
•  Prior experience working with MBA students
•  Prior experience working within student services

Salary & Benefits

The salary for this full-time, career position will range from $42,000 annually up to $68,000 annually plus benefits.
