Enterprise Computing and Service Management (ECSM) are recruiting a Systems Administrator / Lab Manager.

Responsibilities

SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION AND/OR SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT
Perform one or more of the following job functions as directed.
• Windows server / domain system administration.
• MS exchange administration.
• Relational database administration.
• Web site management and development.
• Database and application development.
• UNIX system administration.
• Performs complex security control activities to prevent hackers from infiltrating campus information. Maintains complex security systems for routers and switches.
• Defines, designs and implements network communications and solutions.

RESEARCH, SELECTION, INSTALLATION, AND OPERATION OF HARDWARE AND/OR SOFTWARE
• Proposes and implements system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.
• Performs complex analysis to acquire, install, modify and support operating systems, databases, utilities and Internet / intranet-related tools.
• Manages centralized computer servers and makes recommendations for purchase or upgrade of new computer hardware.

PREPARES DOCUMENTATION
• Documents the use and operation of server based software systems for both end users and for technical staff.

PROVIDE ASSISTANCE & DESKTOP TECHNICAL SUPPORT TO END-USERS

ACTS AS THE ECSM STUDENT LAB MANAGER
Plans and designs computing environment used by students and faculty instructors. Provides technical guidance to end user lab support staff.
• ECSM Licenser Server Admin (LS) providing all faculty and PhD research analytic tools/software.
• Application Virtualization and Sequencer Server Admin, used for behavioral and faculty research studies.
• ECSM Print Server System Admin. Maintains the Production printer servers for all Haas students and labs.
• Global Group Policy editor and Admin. Maintains all GPO settings, login scripts for all Haas student groups and changes as necessary.
• Behavioral Lab design and system support as needed by faculty researchers.
• Terminal Server backup Administrator, ts.haas.berkeley.edu.

LEADS & PARTICIPATES IN SPECIAL PROJECTS AS REQUIRED.
• Plans, designs and implements networked systems.
• Operates campus' complex internal data communications systems, including LANs and WANs.
• Performs complex systems programming and systems support activities.
• Conducts other programming tasks.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
• Experience as a Windows server administrator required.
• Three years experience in computing systems, personal computer hardware, network, and software problem diagnosis.
• Must be able to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner among varying levels in the organization.
• Has thorough knowledge, skills and abilities associated with identifying systems-related issues and actions needed to improve or correct performance.
• Has knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs.
• Has skills associated with adapting equipment and technology to serve user needs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in MS Exchange, MS SQL Server, IIS, MOSS, MS CRM, MS LCS, Visual Source Safe, Infopath, Groove, and MS Operations Manager.
• Experience with Active Directory domain administration.
• Experience with event calendar software, especially Dean Evans Associates Event Management System (EMS).
• Experience with virtual computing, especially VMware, and terminal server administration.
• Experience with firewall administration, antivirus and anti spyware software.
• Experience with building and administering load balanced and failover server clusters.
• Experience with programming for system administration.
• Experience as a Unix systems administrator.
• Has thorough knowledge, skills and abilities associated with identifying systems-related issues and actions needed to improve or correct performance.
• Has knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs.
• Has skills associated with adapting equipment and technology to serve user needs.

Salary & Benefits

The salary for this exempt, full-time career position will range between $63,900 up to $94,800 annually plus benefits.
