The Computing Services unit for the Haas School of Business is recruiting an Accounting and Operations Manager. This is a full-time career position, classified by the university as an Administrative Analyst. |
||||||||||||
FINANCIAL ANALYTICS: • Apply professional concepts to perform moderate to complex analysis to understand past performance and determine present and future performance and/or resource allocations • Provide analytical support for complex budget, financial, or resource analysis projects • Provide department support in the areas of business process analysis and design, system or procedure testing and implementation, documentation, security, workflow, and customer feedback • Coordinate and implement department budget allocations, conceive of and maintain department chart of accounts or other data management tools, and related business processes • Gather, analyze, prepare and summarize recommendations for financial and/or resource plans, including annual resource allocation approaches, trended future requirements, operating forecasts, sources and uses, et cetera. • Perform complex financial or resource research and studies for a variety of internal department constituents including generating, modifying, and conceiving of new financial or other resource reports and analyzing and forecasting staff/faculty salary budgets, contracts, grants, gifts, endowments, or user fees FINANCIAL MAINTENANCE: • Review, research, and resolve monthly general ledger issues for chart strings deficits, errors and/or related issues • Reconcile campus recharges and redistribute costs to appropriate department • HCS chart of accounts: maintain list of projects and chart strings to use • Maintain one or a combination of general accounting systems • Prepare basic financial transactions (e.g., financial journals, voucher adjustments) • Provide record of assets, liabilities, and other financial transactions • Run summary and detailed BAIRS reports as needed; interpret reports and records for campus administrators and managers; create ad-hoc reports as needed PROCUREMENT AND CONTRACTS MANAGEMENT: • Supervise the Technology procurement and contracts processes • Manage at least one FTE career staff in processing purchasing and requisitions requests for Technology at the School • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve procurement and contracts problems in collaboration with the Haas Business Services and Berkeley campus Procurement and Business Services offices FINANCIAL AUDIT: • Review and post Cash and Credit Card receipts as part of the Merchant Accounts Program • Review and reconcile BluCard transactions for the unit • Provide status updates monthly to the Chief Technology Officer BUDGET: • Working with the Chief Technology Officer, assist with the development of the Haas Computing Services annual budget • Review and analyze staff budget requests for validity in comparison to actual spending trends |

REQUIRED: • Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices and systems • Thorough knowledge of accounting, and regulatory compliance requirements • Ability to independently gather, organize, and perform financial analysis assignments • Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner both in writing and verbally • Must be proficient in use of Microsoft Office and common desktop/web applications • An intrinsic understanding of the working nature of technology within an administrative environment • Creative and innovative problem-solving skills • Ability to interpret, understand, and translate campus financial systems, policies, and procedures • Demonstrated ability to leverage technology to increase efficiencies in an administrative or business unit • Excellent analytical skills • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with staff and faculty • Excellent political acumen and good judgment • Professional-level oral and written communication skills • Demonstrated ability to take initiative to investigate and resolve problems • Proven ability to work and deal successfully with a high degree of ambiguity and roadblocks • Ability to work independently, set priorities, and juggle multiple projects/assignments • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training PREFERRED: • Financial Management Certificate Program (FMCP) desirable • Knowledge of campus chart of accounts, financial reporting, and database concepts • Knowledge of Berkeley Financial Systems (BFS), BAIRS (Reporting), OPTRS (Payroll), CARS (Campus Accounts Receivable System) and other business-related transactional systems |
