  Mariah Byrne, President  

 
  Responsibilities:
• Coordinate Team of MBAA officers; working closely with each officer to help drive change, as well as ensure overarching team-wide goals
• Represent full-time MBA students’ needs and concerns to the school’s administration
• Regularly interface with members of the larger Haas community, including alumni, prospective students, and the student leaders of the EWMBA, MFE, BCEMBA and Undergrad programs
• Haas student Representative for The Academic Common Committee in charge of the coordination of the new building with the Boalt School of Law.
• Member of other committees, such as the MBA Program committee & Life Long Connection Committee


 
 

Mariah graduated from UC Davis in 1999 with a B.S in Psychology.  Professionally, she spent eight years in San Francisco working for Charles Schwab Institutional in a variety of marketing, strategy, product management and sales roles. At Haas, in addition to serving as the MBA Association President, Mariah is a Graduate Student Instructor for the Venture Capital and Private Equity course, is learning Portuguese and training for her sixth marathon.  After graduation, she will begin a career in management consulting.
   

 
  Urvi Parekh, VP of Academics  

 
  Responsibilities:
• Student representative to the Faculty and Administration
• Liaison to the MBA Program Committee
• Coordinate Faculty/Student Lunch Program
•Coordinate Bidding Information Sessions and course feedback collection
• Administer Faculty and GSI Awards
• Conduct Best Practice discussions and presentations to the core faculty


 
 
Urvi comes to Haas from Washington, D.C. where she worked in technology and policy as an on-site consultant to the U.S. Department of Energy's Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Programs.  Urvi spent her MBA summer working on renewable energy technology with MMA Renewable Ventures, a firm focused on project finance for solar, wind, biomass and energy efficiency projects.  Outside of the MBAA, she is very active in the Berkeley Energy and Resources Collaborative.  Urvi believes that attending rival schools for your undergraduate and graduate degrees is a great way to learn the art of diplomacy.  She, though having grown up in Oklahoma, completed her Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University.

 
  Morgan Eckles, VP of Admissions  

 
  Responsibilities:
• Liaison between the student body, the MBAA and the Admissions Office
• Serve as student body representative to prospective students in collaboration with Haas Student Ambassadors
• Initiate and administer a variety of Admissions-focused projects including Days at Haas, Admissions Town Hall, and the Haas New Student Mentorship Program


 
  Morgan graduated from Williams College in 2000 with a BA. in Economics.  Prior to Haas, she spent seven years in Boston in a variety of client development, product management, strategy and banking roles.  At Haas, in addition to serving as the MBA Association Vice President of Admissions, Morgan is a Graduate Student Instructor for Leadership Communication, a college mentor for Young Entrepreneurs at Haas and is training for the Nike Women’s Marathon.  After graduation, she will pursue a career in tech marketing strategy.
   
 
  Nora Tucker, VP of Alumni  

 
  Responsibilities:
• Liaison between the Haas alumni, the Haas Alumni Office, and the MBA student body
• Evaluate ways to increase the quality and quantity of alumni interaction with MBA students
• Lead the Lifelong Connections campaign for the Class of 2009
• Market selected Alumni Office events to the MBA student body to ensure strong student participation
• Assist in securing alumni participation in student-run events, leveraging the Alumni Office as needed
 
 
Nora grew up in Colorado and attended CU-Boulder where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. She subsequently spent the next five years in the workforce trying to move away from the engineering world and in to the business world. Luckily National Instruments, an Austin, Texas based tech firm, gave her the opportunity to not only dabble in Applications Engineering and Product Marketing, but to experience managing a department in their Tokyo office. After over a year in Tokyo, Nora returned to the US to pursue an MBA at Haas. Still unable to completely sever her tech roots, Nora interned for Google in their Online Sales and Operations team this past summer. Similar to most Haas MBAs, Nora enjoys traveling, running, golfing, and patronizing the restaurants and bars in the Bay Area.

 
  Sean Bornheimer, VP of Careers  

 
  Responsibilities:
• Serve as liaison between the CSO, student body, and the MBAA
• Educate students on the wealth of services available
• Manage budget to support the career related activities of the professional clubs
• Continuously improve the career search process from both a logistical and content perspective


 
 


Prior to Haas Sean lived in beautiful Hermosa Beach, California.  He started his career within Raytheon's Leadership Development Program working in a variety of finance and strategic planning roles. Eventually he moved in to the business development group working to create business opportunities for a joint Raytheon-Airbus (EADS) partnership. He spent his summer internship working in the Corporate Development group at Sony. Sean is Co-Founder and President of the Haas General Management and Strategy Club and plays on the Haas Rugby team.


 
  Rachel Wolan, VP of Clubs  

 
  Responsibilities:
Serve as liaison between clubs, the MBAA and administration
• Manage student clubs by assisting club leaders with funding, logistics of event planning, and other types of support
• Develop strategic direction of club activities, such as target number of clubs, role of clubs at Haas, etc.
• Ensure continuity in club activities & structure between years
• Market club activities as part of the Haas "package"
 
 
Rachel graduated from Northwestern University in 2002 with a B.S. in Organizational Change.  She spent two years as a software developer at a startup in Chicago called Aha Interactive.  After Aha, she spent three years consulting health insurance companies on technology strategy for HP Consulting.  At Haas, Rachel is heavily involved in the Digital Media and Entertainment Club as well as being a Graduate Student Instructor for the Leadership Communication course.  She is also an avid skier and runner.  After graduation, she will continue her pursuits in high tech.

 
  Charlene Chen, VP of Communications  

 
  Responsibilities:
• Create and distribute weekly MBA Alert email to all full-time and part-time MBA students, staff, and administration
• Communicate key messages and accomplishments (rankings results, case competition wins, major conference announcements) to Haas community
• Serve as the student liaison to the Haas Marketing and Communications Office
• Examine technology initiatives with VP Technology/Administration that will facilitate communications and scheduling at Haas
• Conduct Cohort Rep Elections and MBAA Officer Elections



 
  Charlene graduated from Duke University in 2003 with a B.S. in Computer Science and Psychology. She spent four years working at Deloitte Consulting in Boston and New York City. At Haas, Charlene also serves as the Net Impact Co-VP of Academics and Education, Global Social Venture Competition Co-Chair of Alumni Outreach, and is a SEED (Social Enterprise Education Development) Fellow. She is pursuing a career in international development through social entrepreneurship and technology and thanks to Haas for Students, spent her summer working in Ghana for Good Morning Africa, a non-profit whose mission is to alleviate poverty by empowering entrepreneurs and small-to-medium enterprises in Africa.

 
  Omar Garriott, VP of Community  

 
  Responsibilities:
• Strive to create opportunities for Haas students and partners to positively impact the larger community during their time at Haas
• Manage the Haas for Students fund, organizing fund-raising efforts and disbursements to classmates working as non-profit summer interns
• Work closely with C4C, serving as an active board member to ensure that our volunteering and fundraising efforts are, where possible, coordinated
• Foster interaction and integration between Haas and the greater graduate community at Berkeley


 
 

Omar graduated from the University of Virginia in 2002 with a B.S. in Commerce, with distinction. After teaching third grade in Washington, D.C. through Teach for America, he spent the three subsequent years at College Summit—an award-winning social enterprise increasing the college enrollment rate of low-income students—where he coordinated all marketing, communications and public policy efforts. Omar then worked as an Account Executive in global PR firm Porter Novelli’s healthcare and social marketing group prior to business school. At Haas, in addition to serving as the MBA Association VP of Community, Omar is Co-Chair of Development for the Global Social Venture Competition, Head Graduate Student Instructor for the MBA Leadership Communication class, and is making plans to launch a social enterprise of his own.


 
  Daisuke Tanaka, VP of Diversity  

 
  Responsibilities:
• Serve as student liaison to the school’s diversity committees that work on recommendations to improve diversity at Haas
• Facilitate diversity-related events & activities
• Support diversity recruiting activities, such as a phone-a-thon, personalized emails, etc.
• Coordinate the Haas Diversity in Business Conference


 
 


Daisuke completed his undergraduate studies in economics at the University of Chicago and then spent the next five years working as a litigation consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Los Angeles. At Haas, he is involved in the Tennis and Rugby clubs and spent the summer as a Marketing Consultant for MarketBridge. 


 
  Trey Clark, VP of Finance  

 
  Responsibilities:
• Manage the MBAA fund and annual budgeting process
• Assist MBA conferences with sponsorship & working capital needs
• Distribute MBAA funds and reimbursements to clubs and students
• Assign and manage locker assignments


 
 


Trey Clark may be the only Virginia Tech graduate ever to enroll in the Haas FT MBA program, and is currently outnumbered 9 to 1 by his University of Virginia compatriots. Trey began his career in marketing, transitioned into finance and worked within the airline industry for a company executing an operational turnaround before coming to Haas. He spent the summer in Investment Banking with UBS’s Leverage Finance and Restructuring group, based in San Francisco.  In addition to his involvement with the finance community at Haas (he serves as a Finance Club VP), Trey is also pursuing the Certificate in Real Estate. In this capacity he helped lead a Haas team to victory over Stanford in the annual Golden Shovel Case Competition – a semester long real estate development competition which culminates in a  presentation to several hundred of the most influential developers within Northern California.


 
  Oliver Strutynski, VP of International  

 
  Responsibilities:
• Represent the needs and concerns of the international community at Haas
• Facilitate communication between the career office and the international community
• Provide enhanced support for logistical matters ranging from settling in to the US to legal issues during and after the end of school


 
 
Oliver holds a Diploma in Computer Science from Technische Universität München (Germany) and a MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. Before coming to Haas, Oliver worked as a management consultant for McKinsey & Company in their Hamburg office. At Haas, Oliver acts as the Vice President for International Student Affairs and is actively involved in the European Business Club.

 
  Justin Parker, VP of Social  

 
  Responsibilities:
• Oversee the MBAA budget for social activities that unite the full-time MBA student body
• Allocate funds to individual students and/or student groups for activities targeted toward smaller segments of the student population
• Plan and oversee weekly “Bar of the Week” gatherings and monthly “Consumption Functions” to bring together the entire full-time MBA student population
• Coordinate special events (dinner receptions, theme parties, etc...) to create a more memorable Haas MBA experience
• Meet with Student Services and MBAA teams to report on social activities and morale at Haas


 
  Before Haas, Justin worked at Epson America in the Corporate Strategy group.  Prior to Epson, Justin worked at Connexion by Boeing in Marketing Strategy and Product Management.  He also completed a 2-year leadership development rotational program in Boeing's various southern California operations.  Justin graduated from Pepperdine University with a B.S. in Business Administration, and later obtained a Master of Public Policy from the University of Southern California.  When he's having fun and not planning fun, Justin likes most things outdoors, sports, and any event that either begins or ends with a BBQ.

 
  Rags Srinivasan, VP of Technology  

 
  Responsibilities:
• Serve as student liaison to Haas Computing Services (HCS)
• Technology representative for Admissions, Alumni Affairs, Career Services, etc.
• Provide general technology support to students & clubs


 
 
Rags started out as a Chemical Engineer then switched to computer science.
He grew up in India but spent all of his professional career in Colorado.
Rags has worked in several leadership roles in Qualcomm and Ericsson,
developing products for India and China. Rags loves to blog on a variety of
topics. Rags loves to hike and snowshoe and has bagged dozen of the
Fourteeners in Colorado. This semester, in addition to the usual courses, he
is doing an independent study on topics like "Why BART does not offer a
monthly pass?"
