I am currently finishing up my first year at the University of Michigan. I plan to major in Political Science, Philosophy, and Economics. Although I cherish the opportunity to pursue a well-balanced education, I ultimately plan to pursue a career in finance. I feel that BCPA will provide me with focused coursework and practical skills so that I can hit the ground running when I enter the workforce. One fun fact about me is that I went to the state championship for cross country my senior year of high school.

I look forward to being a part of the BCPA program, which will help with the CPA exam and my future career. I hope to secure a full-time position in auditing this next year. One fun fact: I’m a technology enthusiast, and I religiously follow new products and services in the world of finance.

No job excites me more than being a financial consultant in San Francisco. I really think the job requires some skills I have been passionately working on and will continue to improve. Before transferring to U.C. Berkeley, I had some amazing opportunities to develop my leadership skills as a captain of my community college golf team, president of an honors society, and with some responsibilities associated with California Service Dogs Senate Bill 312. My favorite aspect of all these opportunities and learning experiences is bringing the best out of everyone, reducing or eliminating worry and doubt, and bringing added confidence to spark their passion to a degree it hasn’t reached before, resulting in better productivity. These opportunities have sharpened my communication skills and my ability to work under pressure. I really aspire to learn everything I can from my classmates and professors in the BCPA program over the next 2 summers, to get my CPA, work as a consultant for a few years beginning in fall 2021 or very early 2022, come back to Berkeley Haas for an MBA, and absolutely kill it by being the best asset I can possibly be for a great firm. I refuse to be average or good enough, and I genuinely trust BCPA will equip me with the skills I need to do great work. Go Bears!

After transferring from a community college, I was overwhelmed by both the academic rigor and the tremendous opportunities in networking and job hunting at Berkeley. I tried to exploit abundant opportunities as much as I could in my junior year, but I felt not being able to express my strength in each recruiting process. Since I have been interested in a career related to finance and accounting, the Introductory BCPA was an excellent program to develop my accounting readiness and prepare me for securing a full-time position. As a returning student, I am excited to complete the Advanced BCPA program this summer.

During this chaotic time of COVID-19, I’m focusing all of my energy into accounting. BCPA was a savior when I realized that I would not be able to finish the required units by the time I graduate. BCPA can provide me with great knowledge in the accounting field that I can literally use the very next day at my summer tax internship.

Because UC Merced is the newest University of California campus, I was not able to declare an emphasis within my Business major. After taking a couple of accounting classes, I found a growing interest in the field of accounting. The BCPA program will help me to be prepared with the classes required to sit for the CPA exam while giving me opportunities to network. I hope to use my skills to help people in the business world. Fun fact: I enjoy going on hikes in Yosemite which has led to a passion for fitness and health.

In 2021, I plan to finish one of my goals in life, which is finishing college and getting a degree in my long time favorite field: finance and economics. Because of the limited accounting courses at Merced, the BCPA program has given me the opportunity to accomplish more steps in achieving my other goal: taking the CPA exam. I not only hope that I can gain life skills that I can use to advance my career, but also gain confidence as an accountant. One fun fact about me is that I love to read.

In the summer of 2020 I will have finished my freshman year at UC Berkeley, and I intend to major in Business Administration and Economics. I am excited to be a part of BCPA because it offers me the chance to learn about accounting with fellow students who are focused and driven like I am. The opportunities this program grants will give me the chance to not only learn in a classroom setting, but also allow me to apply that knowledge towards interning with professional accounting firms. A fun fact about me is that I have zip lined in Canada.

As a freshman, I am not sure about what I want to do in the future, but I believe accounting knowledge is valuable for me for any field I want to go into. The BCPA program will give me that knowledge and help me determine my major. Further, I wish to make my first summer in college to be meaningful, and BCPA allows me to spend quality time with the recruiters to prepare for future recruitment season. I hope to secure an internship next year. One fun fact about me is I have participated in musicals for three years.

One thing that keeps me pumped up for the upcoming summer is the opportunity to immerse myself into the BCPA experience and join the community of aspiring accountants! I am currently a rising junior studying economics and data science, aiming to apply machine learning skills on financial data by the end of my college career. Accounting keeps me on track since it is essentially information architecture and you can’t have AI without IA! I hope to kick start a career in finance as an auditor and BCPA provides the perfect preparation. I’ve been through one round of recruiting this spring and I hope to secure a full- time internship by summer 2021. Remember Zhenyi You because from now on, it’ll always be about YOU 🙂

After exploring a range of subjects in my freshman year at Cal, I recognized the interdisciplinary nature of every field of study and was intrigued by the intersections between science, economics, and business. I have developed a strong passion in finance and entrepreneurship in the life sciences industry and recognized how a knowledge in accounting is crucial in acquiring the financial skills that I need. BCPA provides the perfect opportunity for me to learn about accounting, which is the backbone of businesses. I hope to be inspired by the professionals to further my horizon and be exposed to the opportunities for my future career.
