  • Farewell to a beloved colleague: An extraordinary researcher, a gifted teacher, and the embodiment of our Defining Leadership Principles – these are just a few words used to describe our beloved colleague and friend Prof. John Morgan. As many of you learned this month, Prof. Morgan left an indelible mark on our school community and the business industry through his teaching, scholarship, and leadership. Jenny Chatman and Don Moore described John as the “embodiment of our institution’s highest ideals of dedication, service, and excellence”. He was loved by students and faculty alike. They added that he was “a productive researcher with a massive impact in online markets” who held several leadership roles at Haas, including serving as the founding director of the Experimental Social Science Laboratory and faculty director of Berkeley Executive Education. Mike Rielly noted that Berkeley Executive Education is much stronger because of John’s contributions to the Faculty Oversight Committee and that despite his illness, John remained “a powerful advocate, advisor, and friend who never failed to make us smile and encouraged us to do our best work, even in the most challenging of times.” You can read more about John’s life and his accomplishments here.
