VIA measures your top character strengths and values – essentially who you are at your best. It’s scientifically based and was developed by researchers at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Michigan. Research reveals that people who recognize and use their top strengths every day are:
- 3x more likely to report having an excellent quality of life
- 6x more likely to be engaged at work
Knowing your VIA character strengths can help you find values-based language to include in your stories.
Some VIA character strengths may be difficult to apply in a business context, so we’ve created a document to explain how they show up in this setting. This document also includes descriptions of the impact on others and yourself when they are used well, overused, and/or underused.
NOTE: Please debrief your full VIA assessment with a coach before drawing conclusions from this document. Coaches will also help you incorporate your VIA strengths into your TMAY, interview responses, and criteria identification. Only certain coaches are certified in VIA debriefs; please use the filters in the “Appointments” module of CMG BEARS to select “VIA assessment brief.” This way, you will be presented with qualified coaches to support you. If you have any questions, please email [email protected]
