Mel Goetz

CSSL Student Advisory Board Member

Mel Goetz is a first-year MBA student on a mission to use technology to expand access to mental health care and education. She began her career as a software engineer at Google, where she discovered a love for solving complex problems and building products that improve people’s lives.

Driven to apply those skills toward social good, Mel transitioned into mental health tech. As a Product Manager at Limbix, a startup increasing access to care, where she led cross-functional teams to build Spark—an evidence-based digital treatment for adolescent depression. These experiences deepened her commitment to building collaborative teams and designing products that meet people where they are, making care more accessible, empathetic, and stigma-free.

At Haas, Mel serves as a Berkeley Board Fellow with The Women’s Building and plans to launch a career in social entrepreneurship, building a tech nonprofit that makes emotional well-being and learning more accessible for all. Through her work with CSSL, she hopes to foster a community at Berkeley that champions technology for social good, bringing together innovators, practitioners, and students to learn from one another and advance equity. When she’s not working or studying, you can find her skiing, playing tennis, scuba diving, hiking, or behind a camera capturing the beauty of the outdoors.
