UC Summer Institute for Emerging Managers and Leaders offers fellowships to undergraduates at historically black colleges and universities and at Hispanic-serving institutions, with the aim of attracting them to apply to the MBA programs offered throughout the UC system. At SIEML, the 25 Fellows meet and learn from UC graduate business school faculty, CEOs, CFOs, and other industry leaders from some of the country’s most thriving hubs of innovation and enterprise.
During the first SIEML in 2012, Haas Dean Rich Lyons said, “Greater diversity of people means greater diversity of thinking and experiences. This translates into leaders who are better able to produce the kind of innovation that is creating what’s next. SIEML will bring more of this to California.”
SIEML rotates among the six UC business and management schools: Berkeley Haas, the Rady School of Management (UC San Diego), the UC Davis Graduate School of Management, the Paul Merage School of Business (UC Irvine), the Anderson School of Management (UCLA), and the A. Gary Anderson Graduate School of Management (UC Riverside). Wells Fargo Bank and California Wellpoint are founding sponsors of SIEML.
