Welcoming the Energy Institute’s Newest Graduate Student Affiliate, Garrison Schlauch
October 1, 2025
We’re excited to welcome Garrison Schlauch to the Energy Institute.

Garrison is a fourth-year PhD student in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics, specializing in energy and environmental economics, agricultural economics, and public finance. His energy-related research examines the local economic impacts of data centers and power plant production responses to changes in regulatory oversight. At the Energy Institute, he is supporting a project evaluating the impacts of an electricity affordability field experiment on consumption and payment behavior. Before Berkeley, Garrison studied economics and mathematics at UC Santa Barbara, taught high school math as a Teach For America corps member, and worked as a research fellow at the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago.
