BHBC is excited to have Avy Mallik as our speaker, the newly appointed General Counsel by Governor Newsom for the California Department of Financial Protection & Innovation (DFPI), which regulates financial services in California, including cryptocurrencies.

The audience will learn directly from Avy about the remit of the DFPI, in particular, its mandate related to blockchain & crypto; how California will encourage innovation in this industry; how DFPI works with Federal regulatory agencies. Avy will also provide an overview of cryptocurrency regulation in the U.S. through national as well as state laws and regulations, and his personal views about the Congress’ agenda and plans to create a regulatory framework for crypto.

Avy will also share his thoughts about the difference in his current role from his previous one in the U.S. Congress and give recommendations to alumni and students who are interested in pursuing a job with the DFPI or other government agencies related to blockchain & crypto.
