55th Avenue, Hunters Point at 2nd Avenue |
September 23, 2021 @ 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Postponed (9/23)

Today’s Long Island City tour is cancelled due to the storm and inclement weather in New York City.  We will reschedule the event over the next few weeks, date TBD.  If you would like a refund please contact Jamie Capito at [email protected].  We hope to see you at the rescheduled event!

Please join Alexis Wheeler, Sarit Platkin, and Teal Delys from the Queens Office of the Department of City Planning on a tour of Long Island City to discuss how a small residential and industrial community became one of the fastest growing neighborhoods in the country, and how future development can continue the rich mixed-use history of the area.

Starting at the 55th Avenue Linear Park in Hunter’s Point South, we will speak on the residential development that has transformed what was once an industrial waterfront to a dense urban neighborhood.

At Anable Basin, we will share past planning efforts and lessons learned on future mixed-use development on the Basin, an area with significant development potential.

Finally, we will travel down 44th Avenue to the Long Island City core to explore loft building conversions to office spaces and artist studios, commercial tower development, and the residential boom around Queens Plaza.

Happy Hour to follow!
