EGAL: Catalyzing Gender-Smart Artificial Intelligence
June 27 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Artificial intelligence (AI) tools are increasingly being explored, developed and/or leveraged in efforts to enhance gender equality. AI has immense potential to improve outcomes for women and girls – through supporting access to finance for underbanked women, tackling intimate partner violence, and addressing human trafficking. However, AI can also replicate and embed harmful gender biases.
In this webinar – led by the UC Berkeley Center for Equity, Gender & Leadership (EGAL) in partnership with Branch, a company leveraging machine learning and mobile technology to advance financial inclusion – we ask: What does gender-smart AI look like? How can the gender equality movement advance gender-smart AI?
Join us to learn about gender equity and AI, hear from a company leveraging AI to support financial inclusion globally, and listen in to a fireside chat between EGAL’s Associate Director, Genevieve Smith, and Branch’s Managing Director of East Africa, Rose Muturi, discussing challenges and opportunities to operationalize gender-smart AI.
