Today, white-collar employees are more likely than ever to be part of a household where both partners work full time, and the trend is growing. Although partnerships are becoming more egalitarian (i.e. Millennial men are more likely to take on some domestic responsibilities so women can pursue out-of-home careers), women in heterosexual dual-career couples still do most of the household/care work, are more willing to prioritize their partners’ careers over their own, and face many job-related stresses and challenges that their partners do not face. These challenges have only been exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic.

Gender inequities at work and home are not just a “women’s issue” – there are deep implications for families, the economy, and society more broadly. To tackle these challenges, The Center for Equity, Gender, and Leadership (EGAL) has made recommendations for business leaders in their Supporting Dual Career Couples: An Equity Fluent Leadership Playbook. Join EGAL and Haas Manbassadors – with support from Haas Partners’ Club and Haas Cubs Club – as we chat with Mary Beth Ferrante, Founder & CEO of WRK/360 and a writer for Forbes Magazine, about challenges and growth-opportunities for dual-career couples.
