Cohorts and Scheduling Options
You received your assigned Evening, Weekend, or Flex schedule option on your admit letter. You will be assigned to a specific cohort within that schedule option prior to the start of the semester. If your schedule preference has changed since applying to the program, or if you need to request a specific Evening cohort, there are two distinct processes based on the date of your request.
For requests prior to July 1:
Please complete this request form as soon as possible. Requests will be considered by the Admissions Team on a case by case basis. Since we strive to create diverse cohorts, and we have cohort size constraints, we can’t guarantee that all specific cohort requests will be accommodated. We recommend you provide as much detail as possible in your request form.
For requests on or after July 1:
Please complete this request form. The EWMBA Program Office will consider specific cohort requests on the following dates: Friday, July 1 – Tuesday, July 5 and again Saturday, July 9 – Monday, July 11. Between July 5 and July 8, we will be forming the cohorts and cannot evaluate switch requests. This ensures that we can advise incoming students of their assigned cohort with sufficient time to fully participate in WE Launch activities. While we are happy to accept and review cohort requests on a rolling and space available basis until Friday, July 15, changes become incrementally more difficult to accommodate as cohorts fill up.
Please carefully review the information below to prepare for the semester.
BLUE cohort (classes meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00-9:30 PM)
Registration Fees
The per-unit fee for the 2021-22 academic year was $3533 for new EWMBA students. The assessed fees for an incoming student for the Fall 2021 semester was $28,264. This assumed an 8 unit course load. The per-unit fee and assessed fees for the 2022-23 academic year are TBD and will be posted soon.
Your bill for the fall semester will be assessed in July. Payment in full, or enrollment in the Fee Payment Plan, must be done by mid August (specific date TBD). You will receive additional information about this from the Program Office.

Core Waiver Examinations – Microeconomics, Marketing and Data & Decisions
Students with a strong background in certain academic areas can request to take a waiver examination. In general, these are offered in an online format with a multi-day testing window to provide maximum flexibility for our working professional students who may or may not live in the Berkeley area.
Please review the Waiver Guidelines carefully to determine if a waiver examination is appropriate based on your academic and professional experience. You should also review past course syllabi (linked on the Waiver Guidelines website, for reference only) and any other posted materials as part of your preparation.
There will be no opportunity to take these exams at any later date, so if you think you have a chance of passing the waiver exam, we recommend that you make time to take it.
*Information on core waiver exams for Spring core courses will be provided at the end of Fall semester.*
The Cohort Model
As you may be aware, we have placed each of you in a cohort of approximately 70-75 students for your core courses. The cohort system allows you to benefit from a close-knit and supportive team environment and meet students from diverse backgrounds. See below for specific information related to your assigned cohort.
