General Requirements
Beginning Jan. 26, 2021, Campus requires all visitors to take a community surveillance test (E. Whitlock announcement here) with University Health Services, and to present the test confirmation (a Green-coded badge) to Haas Facilities building monitors before gaining entry.

Before planning your visit to Haas or Campus, faculty and staff must complete the one-time training below (UC Learning Center training/guidelines will require CalNet authentication):
- EHS 207: UC Berkeley Guidelines on Protecting Workers from COVID-19 (Revised 2/8/2021)
- UC Berkeley COVID-19 Health and Safety Guide for Returning to the Workplace (Revised 3/22/2021)
On-site workers would need to complete the following health and safety requirements, as outlined in AVC Eugene Whitlock’s Oct. 1, 2020 email:
(FOR USERS WITH RECURRING ACCESS, OR THOSE WHO REQUIRE CARD KEY ACCESS ONLY)
It is important to keep your Cal1 Card current. Cards with issue dates of Jan. 2007 and older are obsolete, and will be unable to operate card key access.
Check the issue date on the front of the card, or the numerical string at the bottom of the back. Newer cards would show a numerical string which begins with six digits. If your code begins with a five-digit string, then the card is old and needs to be replaced.
To get a replacement card, visit:
- Cal1 Card COVID-19 Update page (find section towards bottom for Employees and Affiliates With Obsolete Cards)
ℹ NOTE: if you have more than one Cal1 Card (some retain old cards, even when these have already been replaced), please remember to use your newest or latest card, as this will be the card which the Cal1 Card Office will provide with access.
Contractors or non-affiliated visitors are not required to comply with the Campus Surveillance Testing/Badge System and Health & Safety prerequisites, but would need to complete the following:
- Take the Daily Symptom Screener prior to each day you are scheduled to be on Campus.
- Review this COVID Training (one-time requirement) and confirm via email with the Haas contact your acknowledgement of reviewing the training.
On the day of your visit:
- Please wear a mask and keep physically-distanced while on Campus.
On the Day of Your Visit
- Please have your Green badge ready to show to Campus ambassadors upon entry.
- Complete the Campus Daily Symptom Screener (needs to be completed for each day you are planning to be at Haas/Campus).
- Wear a face covering. No face covering, no entry – and no exceptions.
- During your visit, if you need access assistance, please contact Haas Facilities at 510-643-4948.
ℹ Note: at this time, entry is given only to visitors with approved access and scheduled appointments. No companions (spouses, family members, friends, or other unapproved entities) are allowed.
