Overview

In an effort to increase safety and security for the Haas community, Panic Buttons are available to install strategically throughout the four buildings that comprise the Haas campus. Panic Buttons once triggered sends an immediate signal to UC Berkeley Police that an emergency is occurring. The signal directs UCB Police to the exact location of the emergency. This eliminates the need for any other communication such as dialing 911.

The following office Panic Button policy sets a standard, and allows for consistency going forward.

Policy for Administrative Staff

The following Panic Button installation policy applies to all Haas faculty, administrative staff, career and contract, including staff associated with Haas Centers & Institutes. Note, if a shared office space model is being used by an entire unit (e.g. DAR; CMG).

Department Office

A department office is defined as a space that includes a reception counter with connecting open space and adjoining shared and private offices. Each department office will be allocated a total of two (2) Panic Buttons. All initial department office requests for Panic Button installation should be submitted to – [email protected].
