Starting Fall 2025, Haas Digital is rolling out a standardized bCourse template for all graduate and undergraduate programs. This initiative stems from student feedback and our commitment to delivering a consistent, high-quality digital learning environment.
The template is built with Cidi Labs DesignPLUS, a course design toolset within bCourses.
For more information about how to customize your course pages within the new template, check out these Cidi Labs How-Tos.
Implementation Timeline
- EMBA: All courses transitioning for Fall 2025
- EWMBA: Beginning Fall 2025 with core courses and select electives, completing transition by Fall 2026
- FTMBA: Beginning Fall 2025 with core courses and select electives, completing transition by Fall 2026
- MFE: All courses transitioning between October 2025 and February 2026
- UGBA: Beginning Spring 2026, completing transition by Fall 2026
Haas Digital will manage this transition by:
- Creating new course sites based on your most recent content if it’s from within the past two years (If the content is older, we’ll reach out.)
- Restructuring existing material into the new template format
- Notifying you when your templated site is ready for review
- Supporting you with tutorials and individual assistance as needed
Once your course is in the new template format, you can easily copy and update it for future terms without additional assistance. Your respective program offices will share program-specific details.
Haas Digital bCourse Template
The template starts with a standard homepage that orients students to your course and allows them to easily navigate to each week.
Here, you can add a course overview or welcome message, instructor and TA bios, lecture and office hours information, as well as steps for getting started. You can also feel free to customize the banner image to make the homepage your own.
Rather than relying on Canvas Modules, the template has a dedicated page for each block, week, or class session. This allows students to find everything they need for a given class session in one place.
Each page has customizable content blocks, where you can share learning objectives and provide context for readings, assignments, in-class activities, etc. (More information about customizing content blocks.)

Testimonials
The new template was successfully piloted in our Flex MBA program and received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both students and faculty.
“I loved the layout and the ease with which this specific course had the material organized in bCourses.” (Spring ’24 EWMBA)
“The layout of the bCourse was perfect. I really appreciated the way it broke out everything you needed to know—assignments due that week, reading materials and videos are broken out in a way that is easy to break up over the course of the week, and reference back for more information if needed. I also really liked the ‘additional materials’ section and the thought starter question for each week to ground me in what I needed to learn and do that week.” (Fall ’24 EWMBA)
“I like how it was organized into different weeks with sections for pre-work, deliverables, etc! Every course should do this!” (Fall ’24 EWMBA)
“The template is a must-have. It provides much more flexibility for developing detailed, week-by-week content for my courses.” — Xiao-Jun Zhang
“The template has been a game changer in terms of offering a polished, professional means of communicating all course details to students. It elevates the experience for all and enables instructors to make a great first impression that carries through the entire course.” — Laura Kray
“I have found the Haas Digital bCourse template elegant and simple.” — Jon Metzler
This school-wide initiative represents our commitment to continuous improvement in our educational delivery. The Haas Digital team ([email protected]) is available to answer any questions about this transition.
