IBSI collaborates with faculty, students, partners, funders, and other staff to deliver research, events and convenings, and experiential learning opportunities focused on topics at the intersection of business and social impact.
IBSI Social Impact Initiatives
IBSI identifies key topics at the intersection of business and social impact that require more attention – in the classroom, in research, in industry innovations. These Initiatives are launched to build resources and opportunities for partnerships to address these gaps. Interested in learning more? Email us at [email protected].

Workplace Mental Health
The Workplace Mental Health Initiative (WMHI) is dedicated to transforming organizations, turning them into solutions for well-being, productivity, and success. We partner with businesses, academic institutions, and policymakers to develop and implement evidence-based strategies that support wellness and organizational success. Read more here.

Shared Ownership
This initiative aims to strengthen the Haas School of Business activities related to research, education, and policy and practice on various shared ownership models – including worker and employee ownership, worker cooperatives, Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs), and foundation ownership. Read more here.

Personal Finance Education
After launching and leading efforts to improve access to more inclusive financial services through LIFT, one key insight we’ve gained: Access alone isn’t enough. For financial inclusion to benefit individuals—especially those from marginalized communities—it must be paired with personal finance education. Read our thoughts on what it takes to focus on financial health and why we support California’s efforts to improve long-term financial health through stronger personal finance education.

AI for Good
Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be a powerful tool, but for who and how matters. IBSI is focusing its research efforts in areas where AI is harnessed to improve systems that should improve lives. One high-impact area: improving the efficiency and effectiveness of public procurement systems.

Technology for Health
How can technological innovations in health service delivery facilitate rigorous research on provider and patient incentives, setting optimal prices for health services, and more? IBSI collaborates with innovators to leverage their technological innovations in health to answer policy-critical questions. See more here and here.
