Fifth Annual Symposium on Environmental and Social Sustainability in Supply Chains

On October 31, 2026, the University of California, Berkeley Haas School of Business will host the 2026 Annual Symposium on Environmental and Social Sustainability in Supply Chains. As a pre-event to the INFORMS conference, the Symposium will provide a venue for the exchange of ideas between academic researchers, industry practitioners, and students.

Registration Fees – $125 for faculty and industry professionals, $85 for university staff, and $65 for current students. The registration fee will include entrance to the Symposium, morning and afternoon coffee & snacks, and lunch options. Discounts are available upon request and must be approved by conference staff.

Refund Policy – Please note, the conference organizers are aiming for cost-recovery only and participant fees cover the costs associated with refreshments, lunch, and Saturday logistics on campus. Full refunds are available up to Friday, October 16, 2026. Any refunds following this date will be reviewed on a case by case basis due to fixed costs that must be finalized the week before the event.

Led by Haas faculty team Sytske Wijsma, Candace Yano, Luyi Yang in collaboration with Owen Wu, the 2026 agenda is under development and will include discussions on current topics such as:

• Standardizing scalable, data-driven reverse-logistics infrastructure that support zero-waste corporate mandates while remaining financially viable.
• Formulating frameworks to optimize supply chains using predictive AI and automation without derailing net-zero goals.
• Providing practitioners with supplier compliance and risk mitigation strategies for fragmented international trade regulations and evolving climate disclosures.
• Equitable supply chain operations that protect biodiversity, prevent human rights abuses, and insulate vulnerable agricultural and material supply hubs from climate disruptions.
• Bridging the gap between academic publishing cycles and industry reporting standards to inform data-driven responses and adaptations while remaining compliant and competitive.
