The Institute provides world-class teaching, research, and events for both sustainable finance and sustainable investing.

We have an opportunity and an obligation to teach, practice, and research finance differently. Impact finance covers a range of financial investments with the goal of producing enduring value for all stakeholders.

    • Teaching: Coursework includes the Haas Socially Responsible Investment Fund (HSRIF), the first and only student-managed investment fund of its scale within a leading business school focused on both social and financial returns. Classes such as the Impact Investing Practicum are offered in the fall and spring semesters.
    • Research: The Institute awards two research prizes, both of which are the first and only global awards in this space. The Moskowitz Research Prize for Socially Responsible Investing recognizes outstanding quantitative work on socially responsible investing and the the Investment for Impact Research Prize awards outstanding research pertaining to the social impact of capital.
    • Events: Founded in 2015 in partnership with the Berkeley Law School, the Berkeley Sustainable Business and Investment Forum, is a finance innovation forum, bringing together leaders in the corporate and investment space.
    • Programs: The Haas Impact Investing Network (HIIN) provides MBA students with first-hand experience in impact investing.
