Dr. Marcel Bogers
Full Professor of Open & Collaborative Innovation, Eindhoven University of Technology
Marcel Bogers holds an MSc degree (with distinction) from Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). In 2009, he obtained his PhD degree from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland. He then took a postdoctoral position at the Mads Clausen Institute at the University of Southern Denmark, where he became an Associate Professor in 2012.

Marcel Bogers is a Full Professor of Open & Collaborative Innovation at the Innovation, Technology Entrepreneurship and Marketing (ITEM) group at the Department of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences (IE&IS) at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e).
Bogers’ main interests center on open and collaborative innovation, which he has studied across different levels of analysis. As such, his research focus ranges from the microfoundations of open innovation to the dynamics of innovation ecosystems, and from organizational attributes of business model innovation to the societal impact of open innovation. He has done research in a variety of contexts, such as big data, health, food, sustainability, open science, and emerging markets. Bogers is also specifically interested in better understanding how open and collaborative innovation approaches help to better address grand challenges — for the benefit of both business and society.
Bogers also holds positions as Affiliated Professor at the University of Copenhagen (Denmark) and as Garwood Research Fellow at University of California, Berkeley (USA). He has held guest lecturer appointments at Politecnico di Milano, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Copenhagen Business School (CBS), and the Lab for Open Innovation in Science (LOIS). Bogers has received several honors that highlight excellence in research, teaching and outreach.
