Luisa manages the first International Innovation Outpost of Terna (located in the city of San Francisco). Terna, one of the main European grid operators, is the Italian TSO – Transmission System Operator. The company manages the Italian high voltage energy infrastructure (75.000 km of aerial lines) plus underwater cables and interconnections with other countries. Moreover, Terna is responsible for dispatching energy and balancing the grid.
Luisa has worked in the Open Innovation and tech sector for almost 10 years: she has been working in Terna since October 2021 and her previous role was in Terna Forward, the corporate venture capital arm of the company (and she has been appointed among European women to watch in CVC). Prior to that Luisa has been working in the open innovation unit of another main Italian utility, where she oversaw scouting activities and proof of concepts with startups, with a relevant focus on AI projects. Moreover, she started her career as a data scientist in the Telco industry. In 2015 she founded Startup Grind Roma, the local chapter of the Startup Grind community.
In her current role the main goal is to engage with key innovative players of the Silicon Valley (startups, corporates, energy peers, institutions, academia and venture capital investors) in order to identify potential collaborations and partnerships of mutual interest to foster the energy transition.
