Smart collaboration is in Piet Verhoeve’s DNA as innovation practitioner. He gained open innovation experience from both the corporate side as CTO of Televic and from the academic side as Director ICON at iMinds/imec. That experience was bundled in the book Win-Winnovation, which was awarded as best book in the “Learn & Development” category. In 2018 he launched the successful co-creation hub Hangar K in Kortrijk and founded his own company Origanius that helps organizations to transform innovation ambitions into concrete ideas, strong processes and engaged partnerships to maximise chances for success, delivering results and growth. In 2021 he kickstarted the crossover ecosystem Medvia that combines biotechnology, digital technologies and medical technologies in flanders, an open innovation initiative with 150 partners at present.
He is devoted to creating new approaches for establishing strong collaboration which resulted in winning the Best Open Innovation practice award twice at the World Open Innovation Conference (2022 Eindhoven, 2023 Bilbao). After his engineering studies at the KU Leuven, Piet Verhoeve obtained a PhD at Ghent University, besides photonics expertise he also gained a lot of experience collaborating in European projects. Piet is a guest professor at Ghent University. In his scarce spare time, he supports all kinds of initiatives that make young people enthusiastic about technical or scientific studies (STEM, Coderdojo).
