Launching our New Research & Insights Repository
The Open Innovation Labs at the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business is proud to announce the launch of our new “Research & Insights” section, an online repository dedicated to the practical application of Open Innovation. This new hub aims to share actionable knowledge from industry leaders, student projects, and cutting-edge research to inspire a broader curiosity and understanding of collaborative innovation.
The goal of the Research & Insights section is to create a go-to resource for practitioners, academics, and students alike—a place where theoretical knowledge meets real-world application. Our goal is to build a library of applied knowledge that can help organizations of all sizes leverage the power of Open Innovation.
The content for this new initiative will be drawn from three core pillars:
1. Insights from the Open Innovation Advisory Board
A cornerstone of the new section will be the distilled insights from the Open Innovation Labs’ Open Innovation Advisory Board. This group of senior innovation executives from leading global companies meets regularly to discuss the most pressing challenges and opportunities in the field. The initial publications will include a series of white papers covering topics such as:
- Defining and Applying Open Innovation: A foundational look at the core principles and practical methods used by top-tier companies.
- Staying Relevant in the Age of AI: A strategic playbook for leveraging artificial intelligence within an open innovation framework.
- Overcoming Core Challenges: An analysis of the key hurdles in implementing a successful open innovation program.
2. Learnings from Applied Student Projects
The hub will also serve as a showcase for the groundbreaking work being done by UC Berkeley students. Through hands-on projects with corporate partners, our students are tackling real-world challenges and generating novel solutions. This section will feature case studies, project summaries, and key takeaways, highlighting the fresh perspectives and innovative approaches developed within our ecosystem.
3. The Forefront of Open Innovation Research
The Research & Insights section will feature ongoing research from our faculty and affiliates. This will include articles, studies, and thought leadership pieces on a wide range of topics relevant to the practice of open and collaborative innovation.
