He completed postgraduate studies in Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Deusto Business School, Customer Experience at EOI, and Railway Engineering at UNED. During his doctoral research, he served as a Visiting Assistant in Research at Yale University, where he strengthened his commitment to turning cutting-edge research into real-world innovation.

As Head of Open Innovation at Renfe, Andrés focuses on designing and implementing collaboration models that connect startups, corporates, academia, and the public sector. Through TrenLab, he has deployed a comprehensive ecosystem of mechanisms —including hackathons, global challenges, incubation and acceleration programs, and investment strategies. Notably, the program’s venture client model has generated over €6 million in direct contracts with startups, accelerating the deployment of solutions in accessibility, AI-powered operations, or sustainable mobility. This impact contributed to TrenLab being recognized as one of Europe’s Leading Start-Up Hubs 2025 by the Financial Times and Statista.

Beyond his corporate role, Andrés serves as an Adjunct Professor at UNED, where he lectures in engineering and project management. He also contributes to the innovation ecosystem as a mentor, jury member and active participant across national and international innovation communities, fostering public–private collaboration and supporting emerging technologies including quantum systems, advanced materials, and next-generation mobility.

Throughout his career, Andrés has been guided by a core mission: turning knowledge into public value through open innovation, building bridges between technology, institutions, and society to accelerate solutions that matter.
