Pedro Muñoz Román holds an Executive MBA from IESE Business School, a Master’s degree with honors in Corporate Finance & Investment Banking from IEB, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from CUNEF.

Pedro Muñoz Román is currently Head of Open Innovation at BBVA. With more than 11 years of experience in corporate innovation, Pedro specializes in connecting startups and scaleups with BBVA’s business areas to generate collaboration opportunities and foster new projects. He has developed a comprehensive doctrinal framework on Innovation Culture, Open Innovation Processes, and Cultural Transformation, which he teaches at leading universities, business schools, and corporate forums.

Within BBVA, Pedro has designed and delivered strategic programs such as the “Innovation and Creativity” learning program for all employees, and participated in the design of other initiatives such as the BBVA Innovation Bootcamp. He is also a frequent speaker at internal events, contributing to the diffusion of innovation practices across the organization.

Externally, Pedro is an active player in the entrepreneurial ecosystem: serving as an advisor and mentor to startups, investing in early-stage funds, and participating as a jury member in international competitions. His thought leadership and presence in the ecosystem have earned him recognition as a Top 100 Global Fintech Influencer (2021), #38 in Fintech in Spain, and a Top 10 Voice in Banking & Consulting in Spain (2025).

Beyond his professional and academic work, Pedro is passionate about music, particularly playing the piano, and dedicates quality time to his family.
