Flourishing Farmer: Business Models for Regenerative Agriculture
The CRB is proud to share this report, published by the Idea Garden Institute, and co-authored by two current Student Advisory Board members, Jacqueline Gottuso (MBA 25′), Cooper FitzGerald (MBA 25′), and recent Haas alum Anastasia Nevzgoda (MBA 24′); all of whom share a passionate for food systems transformation.
The students conducted interviews with more than 30 diverse stakeholders from farmers to investors, visited multiple California-based regenerative farms, and reviewed dozens of studies, reports, and podcasts to get a better understanding of the current landscape of regenerative agriculture. The authors highlight 5 case studies of regenerative farms using different regenerative practices and financial structures. The experiences laid out in each of these case studies represent overarching successes and challenges farmers in the good food movement face as they work tirelessly to responsibly steward the land while attempting to stay economically solvent. As the authors demonstrate, “this paper is truly valuable for anyone who wants to get a deeper understanding of regenerative agriculture and explore impactful examples of flourishing farm business models.”
