The Center for Responsible Business is proud to introduce Kiyan Mohebbizadeh (he/him) as our 2025-2027 Fellow. Initiated in 2011, the CRB Fellowship has been a lasting symbol of the Center’s commitment to advancing graduates who will redefine conventional business practices and strive for meaningful social impact. Pursuing a JD/MBA dual degree, Kiyan’s dynamic education and professional experience present him as a change-maker and an embodiment of Haas’ Defining Leadership Principles. Meet Kiyan, in his own words:

Tell us a little about yourself

I am a JD/MBA candidate at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law and Haas School of Business. I hold a M.S. in Data Science from Columbia University and a B.A. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from the University of California, Irvine. My work and academic interests focus on the intersection of emerging technologies, financial systems, and legal frameworks.

What does Responsible Business mean to you?

Responsible business means refining capitalism—the most powerful engine for value creation humanity has ever experienced—so that its benefits are shared broadly across society. This requires fostering ethical and supportive practices within organizations while ensuring that the interests of external stakeholders, including customers and community members, are thoughtfully considered and respected.

What drew you to the sustainability/social impact space?

I was drawn to the sustainability and social impact space by the conviction that economic and technological progress must be aligned with long-term societal well-being, and that business can serve as a force not only for profit but for creating resilient, equitable, and thriving communities.

Why did you choose Berkeley Haas?

I chose Berkeley Haas because it is the only business school that fully embodies these values. Situated in the Bay Area, at the center of technological innovation and critical discourse on global challenges, it offers the most conducive environment to explore complex questions at the intersection of business, technology, and societal impact.

What do you hope to achieve by joining the CRB?

I hope to explore these issues through meaningful conversations within the Center for Responsible Business and to bring this important dialogue to the broader Haas community.

What motivates you/what are you excited about for the future?

I am motivated by the opportunity to help shape the future at the intersection of technology and society, and I am excited to contribute to pushing the boundaries of innovation in ways that create meaningful and lasting benefits for all.

What’s a fun fact about you that most people don’t know?

I played college waterpolo at UC Irvine.
