Humans of Haas: Michael Reese
Written by Cher Su.
What is your story?
Ever since I was a kid, I loved stories — even now as an adult, when I think about what ultimately has inspired and guided me, I’ve always come back to my favorite films, television shows, and books. Coming to college, I knew I wanted to work in Entertainment and support the production of exigent content because that’s what’s ultimately been incredibly meaningful in my life, and a space where I feel I can add real value. A degree in Haas gave me a grounding in the fundamentals of business and really allowed me to move between business stakeholders and creative stakeholders to try to bridge the gap between them. When I’m not occupied with school or extracurriculars, I try and get out and immerse myself in the Bay Area Art Scene as much as possible. BAMPFA is an incredible resource that I would recommend to anyone looking to start.
What’s some advice you would give to someone starting at Haas?
Take advantage of opportunities to meet people. Haas is small by design and I think that gives the opportunity to develop close bonds with people in your cohort that will become lifelong friends. Haas is an incredible community of people that have a diverse range of interests – I would encourage a new Haas student to try and meet as many people as possible and take a genuine interest in their backgrounds – it will make your experience that much better.
How do you take your coffee at Cafe Think? How many coffees do you need to get through the day?
I order the same thing every time I go to cafe think – a large cappuccino with almond milk. I’m truly addicted to coffee at this point–it takes me somewhere between 2 and 3 coffees to get through the day.
