About
Jay Patel joined the Berkeley Haas professional faculty in the summer of 2023 as a lecturer in the Accounting Group.
Patel’s career spans over three decades, with extensive expertise across various industries and domains. He spent over four years working with KPMG LLP as a CPA, senior auditor, and corporate finance consultant specializing in auditing, tax preparation, business appraisal/valuation, and financial consulting. After graduate school, Patel spent over fifteen years at Oracle Corporation, from managing planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes in Oracle’s Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis group to leading product strategy/management teams to develop planning and budgeting enterprise applications in Enterprise Performance Management. During this time, he worked closely with sales and marketing teams in business development, identifying opportunities forging partnerships and negotiating deals. Over the past ten years, Patel has collaborated closely with and empowered small to medium-sized hospitality clients to build sustainable ventures and improve process efficiency, financial and operational management, and real estate acquisition and divestiture.
Patel sits on several non-profit boards to actively engage in local and global community initiatives, coaching and mentoring youth and contributing to their personal and professional development by imparting valuable skills and knowledge, fostering responsibility and dedication. He is passionate about bringing together communities to end hunger through awareness and activation.
