About Boost@Berkeley Haas
Celebrating 35 years
Our program started with one simple idea: help high school students in the Bay Area be the first in their families to go to college. Since former Haas Dean Raymond Miles founded Boost in 1989, more than 1,350 students who have graduated from Boost. Each year, Boost provides mentorship, business skills training, and college advising to about 120 Bay Area teens.
For over 30 consecutive years, 98% of the Boost graduates enrolled in a higher education institution, and more than 80% got their bachelor’s degree—nearly half from a UC school and nearly a third of those from Berkeley.
By continuing to utilize the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business facilities, professors, and student community as mentors, Boost provides a safe and intimate learning environment for high school Bay Area students to cultivate the necessary skills to succeed inside the classroom and beyond.
