Web Accessibility
The University of California, Berkeley is committed to making its websites and other online content accessible to all individuals. Content editors are required to complete web accessibility training as prescribed by the Digital Accessibility Program. We also recommend reviewing each of the accessibility concepts.
Best Practices for Images
Check out our guide for using images for tips on handling images on your site—including making images accessible to visitors with visual impairments.
Best Practices for Links
Writing brief but descriptive link text makes your website more user-friendly. Follow these best practices for links to ensure your links are useful to all visitors, including those who use screen reader technology.
Make Your PDFs Accessible
Before posting a PDF on your site, think about whether it’s necessary. Can you include the information directly on the webpage instead?
If you must use the PDF, make sure it’s accessible to visitors who rely on screenreading software to read text out loud to them. Berkeley’s Digital Accessibility Program (DAP) provides some information about how to make PDFs accessible.
Brand Toolkit & Communication Guide
Whether you’re selecting photos for your website or writing copy, you’ll find useful information in the Berkeley Haas Brand Toolkit.
