Celebrating 125 years of reimagining business
Berkeley Haas was founded in 1898 thanks to a gift from Cora Jane Flood, making us the only leading business school founded by a woman, the first founded at a public university, and the second-oldest in the U.S.
The UC Regents unanimously approved the establishment of the College of Commerce on February 8, 1898, and formal instruction began with five students that fall. Flood’s gift, estimated at a 1898 value of $463,133, was the largest private gift in UC Berkeley’s then-30-year history.
In 2023, we’re marking the 125th anniversary of reimagining business at Berkeley Haas. Check out the highlights.
