About

Laura Weiwu is an assistant professor in the Real Estate group at Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley. She studies how local, state, and federal policies have shaped long-run inequality and economic mobility in America, such as through the development of transportation infrastructure and the establishment of municipal housing regulations. Her research spans topics in labor, urban and spatial economics, and economic history.

Prior to joining Berkeley Haas, she was a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Economics at Stanford. She received her PhD in Economics from MIT in 2024 and her BA in Economics and BS in Applied Mathematics from Stanford in 2018.
