University of California Trust (UK): Creating Racial Equity in Our Communities
February 4, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:15 pm
In 2020, in response to further killings of black women, men and children, the Black Lives Matter movement gained significant traction around the world. Despite lockdowns and social distancing put in place to slow the spread of Covid-19, communities around the world took to the streets to protest, donated to initiatives that benefit people of colour, and called for significant change in the systems that have been built on, and continue to benefit from, inequality and oppression of minorities.
What can we do to further this conversation and create change in the year 2021 and beyond? Will we be able to see real change with a new USA administration coming into place on January 20th? How can we move forward and create real racial equity?
Join us to hear from a group of distinguished professors, advocates and activists as they discuss the inequalities that have brought us to this moment, and address how we might move forward.
