Karl Dunkle Werner to Join U.S. Treasury’s Office of Economic Policy

June 15, 2021

Energy Institute graduate student Karl Dunkle Werner completed his PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics in May, and will be joining the U.S. Treasury’s Office of Economic Policy in August as an Economist. Karl will join the same office as Energy Institute Faculty Affiliate, Catherine Wolfram who recently started in her role as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Climate and Energy Economics.

Karl’s research examines energy and environmental economics. His job market paper focused on methane leaks from oil and gas wells, emphasizing the role measurement can play in improving second-best policy.

Karl has been a graduate student researcher with the Energy Institute since 2016. We congratulate him on this exciting appointment!
