Advancing Responsible AI Innovation & Leadership
Virtual & In Person |
October 14, 2021 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
AI systems are rapidly expanding, and are slated to add $15.7 trillion to the global economy by 2030. In particular, AI systems that rely on and learn from human language are gaining steam – from chatbots, to hate speech filters, to speech recognition software, and more. However, natural human language is filled with bias and is far from neutral. How can we address bias in human language that AI models learn from and build responsible AI that advances social good?
Fortunately, responsible innovation in AI has been recognized as urgent across public and private spheres. A growing number of companies and organizations are building responsible innovation teams to address concerns such as bias stemming from human language. At the same time, many questions in responsible innovation remain unanswered.
With industry leaders, this event will explore the growth of roles in responsible innovation at tech companies, how these roles are evolving and their implications for AI that promotes social justice. We will pay special attention to responsible innovation practices related to language, taking a close look at how AI systems that learn from and use human language can amplify bias or support a more inclusive and equitable society.
At the event we will also launch our Responsible Language Guide for AI & ML and discuss the ways in which language can be leveraged for responsible innovation.
The format of the event will include welcome remarks from high-level individuals, followed by a short introduction of the Guide, and an esteemed panel.
