Santa Barbara/Ventura Alumni: Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks: A Virtual Tour

Join the Berkeley Haas Alumni Network of the Santa Barbara-Ventura region for this ranger-led virtual tour of California’s Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. You’ll learn about the many natural treasures that can be found in the parks, including Mt. Whitney, the tallest mountain in the contiguous 48 states; the General Sherman tree, the earth’s largest tree by volume and the Giant Forest which contains 5 of the 10 largest trees in the world!
Together, the parks offer a myriad of activities with over 1,000 miles of hiking trails, including the 211 mile John Muir Trail. Other activities include camping, horseback riding, rock climbing, cave exploration and organized astronomy and conservation programs. In addition to the stunning landscapes, diverse flora and fauna make for a photographer’s paradise.
You’ll also learn about the impact of the California wild fires on the parks as well as the short and long term plans of the National Park Service to ensure the magnificent legacy of the parks will endure for generations to come.
