The Berkeley Forum | Impact, Infrastructure, and Belonging by Design: A Fireside Chat with Dr. Victor Pineda
UC Berkeley | Wheeler Hall 315 (Maude Fife room) |
February 16, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Smart cities aim to increase their inhabitants’ quality of life by employing advanced technologies from the Internet of Things (smart sensors, touchscreens, etc.) throughout public services. Although such designs are regarded as paving the way towards the cities of tomorrow, their implementations often render various services inaccessible to those with disabilities.
According to a study by World ENABLED, 96% of ongoing digital development projects worldwide do not mention people with disabilities. How can city designs and technologies more proactively consider accessibility for individuals with disabilities? Join us at the Berkeley Forum for a Fireside Chat with UC Berkeley Haas & CED alum Dr. Victor Pineda, as he discusses ways to rectify accessibility issues and inclusive design for planning the cities of the future.
