The Center for Social Sector Leadership prepares a new generation of cross-sector leaders with the practical skills to tackle complex global challenges and achieve social impact.
About CSSL
Paths of Purpose
A focus on social impact brings deeper purpose and meaning into a leader’s work. Supporting them requires building a network of collaborators across sectors that can mentor, share information, and connect rising leaders along their career journey
Experiential Training
Firsthand leadership experience is foundational in developing the skill sets for social impact leaders. CSSL courses and programs prioritize this – students can become real consultants in Social Sector Solutions, board members through Berkeley Board Fellows, or practice difficult conversations in Conflict Lab.
New Thinking
Offering courses and programs that are relevant to today’s world is imperative, and research and case studies fuel this new thinking. CSSL studies have defined alternative forms of leadership in diverse communities, uncovered the importance of multisector collaboration, and identified opportunities for improving nonprofit governance.
