We are thrilled to announce that Linda Frey will be joining CSSL as our new Executive Director beginning January 8, 2025. Linda was most recently the Director of California’s $146M College Corps program, led by California Volunteers in the Office of the Governor. College Corps funds 45 colleges and universities across the state to engage more than 3,000 full-time students each year in meaningful community service internships, while earning money to help pay for college.
Linda has more than 20 years of experience leading strategy and partnerships for nonprofits, foundations, and international organizations. Her previous roles include VP of Strategic Partnerships for Global Citizen Year (an immersive global gap year program) and Executive Director of the Open Government Partnership, an international organization that promotes government transparency and civic participation. From 2004 through 2012, Linda was a Program Officer at the Hewlett Foundation, where she helped develop the first grantmaking strategy for the Foundation’s Global Development Program. She subsequently managed a $50M grant portfolio designed to promote citizen oversight of public spending and service delivery in developing countries.
Linda has lived and worked in France, Ecuador and Peru and speaks both Spanish and French. She holds a Master’s in Public Administration from Princeton University and a B.S. in Political Science from Duke University. She currently lives in San Anselmo, California with her husband and two teenage daughters.
We are thrilled to be expanding our Board Fellows Program at Berkeley Haas! Golub Capital announced it is working with our center at Berkeley Haas, along with six other leading business schools to establish or expand Board Fellows Programs, which prepare MBA candidates and alumni to become impactful nonprofit board members.
We are thrilled to announce that Omri Even-Tov will be joining founding Faculty Director Nora Silver as Co- Director in the 24-25 school year. As co-founder of the Center’s ImpactCFO program, Omri has fostered a deep passion for the Center’s mission — developing leaders who are dedicated to transforming organizations and communities to create a more just and equitable world.
Omri is an Associate Professor in the Accounting Group where his research focuses on reporting and disclosure policies, capital markets, corporate debt, mergers and acquisitions, and credit rating agencies. Omri’s work examines the economic consequences of different disclosure policies in different settings. He has current research projects on the real effects of conflict mineral disclosures, the effect of disclosures of new public companies on retail investors, and the economic consequences of pension disclosures of municipalities.
Omri has also been recognized for his significant accomplishments as an educator. In his second year as an Assistant Professor, he was honored with Berkeley Haas’ Earl F. Cheit Award for Excellence in Teaching for his MBA financial accounting course. He won the same award the following year for his teaching in the PhD program. In 2018, he was included on Poets & Quants’ list of the “World’s Best 40 Business School Professors Under 40.”
